Preparing a Hog Roast for A Leaving Party

Leaving home for a new country is never easy, but here at Taste The Cracklin we hope to make it a lot easier by providing a delicious last meal to send you off with. Last Thursday we catered a leaving party for Julian who had secured a new job as a paramedic all the way over in New Zealand! This was such an exciting opportunity and one he could not pass up, but he mentioned to us on the phone that he was worried about leaving his family and friends behind and entering into a completely new way of life. This was why he wanted to host a leaving party to really say a final goodbye to everyone and have one last big get together as he most likely would not see many of his friends for a while. Of course, we were happy to help and got to work preparing a perfect send off for him.

Bread1As some of you may know New Zealand is famous for sheep farming and so it was decided that we would prepare a slow roasted leg of lamb seasoned with lots of rosemary and fresh garlic to prepare Julian for his new life. The Taste The Cracklin team also prepared lots of slow roasted vegetables and our special secret recipe mint jelly to go with the lamb. We had also been asked to prepare a couple of deserts for the guests which was no problem. A homemade sticky toffee pudding was prepared and for the chocolate lovers we made a profiterole tower that looked spectacular.

After serving we made sure we discreetly packed away and threw away all of our rubbish – after all the last thing you want after an event is to have to clean up after your caterers, so this is something Taste The Cracklin always makes a point of doing. After wishing Julian good luck on this new exciting chapter we packed up and left the guests to say their emotional goodbyes in private…
