Taste the Cracklin recently had the pleasure of catering an engagement party for a couple who have been long-term customers of ours. When Rachel and Kelvin were deciding what food to feature on their special occasion, they knew one of our amazing hog roasts would fit the bill. Having enjoyed our famous pigs in buns on several occasions, as well as plated meals of pork, crackling, potatoes, seasonal vegetables, apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing, they wanted to treat their fifty guests to a traditional centrepiece hog roast, though for this party, they needed to make the decision of either our pigs in buns or a plated meal.
Many of our customers have much bigger choices to make for their parties and events, like whether to have us cook a spit-roasted meat instead, like lamb, beef, chicken or turkey, or to have us barbecue burgers, sausages and ribs. We also have a Southern Slow Roast Menu, where we cook no less than three marinated meats and provide hot and cold sides too, and we can easily create a menu of several courses to your tastes if preferred. With plenty of options for dietary needs, like vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, as well as fantastic extras available, like handmade canapés and desserts, Taste the Cracklin has something for everyone.
Rachel and Kelvin decided on our pigs in buns for their engagement do, but they also asked to provide a vegetarian option and some additional salads. Their vegetarian guests would get to enjoy our lovely grilled veggie skewers, packed full of halloumi and various vegetables, and we would also put together a garden-fresh tomato and mozzarella salad and our homemade coleslaw too.
On the day of the summery party, after lovingly preparing the meat to be roasted for hours, our Taste the Cracklin chef and catering assistants cooked up a great feast for the couple and their guests at a local hotel. By the time everyone had arrived, we had piles of fresh, hot pigs in buns ready to be devoured, as well as the tasty skewers and our salad dishes, and it was finally time to satisfy their hunger.
