Wedding Catering That Fits the Venue
A hog roast fits weddings particularly well because it doesn’t need much dressing up. The hog is cooked slowly on-site, carved fresh and served straight to your guests. Whether you’re planning a marquee wedding, a barn reception or an outdoor celebration, the food becomes part of the day rather than something hidden away in a kitchen.
Every wedding is different. Some couples want a formal wedding breakfast, others need evening food once the band starts and additional guests arrive. We regularly cater for both.
A Practical Option for Wedding Venues
One thing we find with wedding venues is that no two setups are ever the same.
Some venues have dedicated catering facilities. Others have very little kitchen space available. We’ve catered from marquees in fields, converted barns, village halls and private properties where everything needed to be brought in for the day.
A hog roast works because it doesn’t rely on complicated kitchen facilities. We arrive with the equipment, prepare everything on-site and serve directly to your guests when it’s time to eat.
Before the wedding, we’ll discuss access, serving areas and timings so there are no surprises on the day.
More Than Just The Hog
The hog is obviously the main attraction, but the service doesn’t stop there.
Most weddings need more than simply carving pork into a roll. The setup, service and additional menu options are often just as important as the hog itself.
Most couples choose to include stuffing, apple sauce, fresh rolls and crackling as standard. Depending on the style of wedding, we can also provide sides, salads and alternative options for guests who don’t eat pork.
Some weddings keep things simple. Others want a more substantial menu. It really comes down to the type of day you’re planning and the number of guests attending.
Evening Wedding Food
A lot of our wedding bookings are for evening receptions.
After a full day, guests usually want something filling rather than another tray of small bites. A freshly carved hog roast tends to go down well because people can help themselves, portions are generous and service remains quick even when large numbers of guests arrive at once.
It’s also a popular option when additional evening guests are invited who weren’t present earlier in the day.
How The Day Works
Once you’ve booked, we’ll confirm the details well before the wedding date. We’ll discuss guest numbers, serving times, venue access and any menu requirements.
On the day itself, we handle the setup, cooking and serving. The hog is cooked slowly throughout the day and carved fresh when service begins. Once guests have eaten, we’ll clear everything away and leave the area tidy.
Once timings are agreed, we’ll take care of the catering side of things. We arrive, set up, cook, serve and clear down afterwards.

Wedding Breakfast or Evening Food?
Not every couple uses a hog roast in the same way.
For some weddings, the hog roast is the main meal and served as part of the wedding breakfast. For others, it’s brought in later in the day once additional guests arrive for the evening reception.
Both work well. It usually comes down to the style of wedding you’re planning, your guest numbers and how you’d like the day to run. If you’re not sure which option would suit your wedding best, we’ll happily talk through it with you.
